Austin Volunteer Program
Adult Volunteer Opportunities include:
At the Home:
- Adult/Female Volunteers for mentoring individual residents - The Settlement Home for Children needs adult females to serve as mentors to female residents ages 7-18. We need individuals who can make a one year commitment and are available for 6-8 hours a month during evenings and weekends.
- Teachers for Summer Program
- Speaker's Forum Volunteers - To give educational or recreationally focused talks and presentations.
- Cottage Volunteers - Assigned to one cottage and a group of 6-8 residents for group fun/recreation.
- Tutors for residents during the school year
- Transportation Help – Volunteers needed to drive individual children to doctor’s appointments, church, school functions, etc.
- Recreation Volunteers/Holiday Helpers
Application process includes an interview, completion registration and information form, references, TB exam, good driving record, and a criminal history background check. A 2-hour training and orientation session is provided.

At the Garage Sale:
- Move-Out Day Saturday Before Garage Sale - Need individuals and groups to load trucks at our warehouse for transport to the Palmer Events Center. Need individuals and groups to help unload the trucks at the Palmer Events Center.
- Garage Sale Day Volunteers (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on the weekend of Garage Sale) - Need individuals to sell merchandise, cashier, and provide security.
