IICF Grants Funded by Independent Agents Support Regional Charities

AUSTIN, TX — The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) announced that it is presenting 13 grants totaling nearly $286,000 to region-based charities that address causes pertaining to children, education, and veterans. Formed in 1994, IICF helps communities and enriches lives by combining the collective strengths of the insurance industry to provide grants, volunteer service, and leadership.

In conducting its grant program, the IICF reinvests the funds raised by a particular region back into that same region and its communities. One of the 13 grants awarded went to The Settlement Home for Children, an Austin-based organization that provides care to promote healing and growth in children, young adults, and families.  Several members of the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas (IIAT) and IICF contributors presented a $8,750 check to the Settlement Home. “IICF has done an effective job at bringing together independent agents to support effective causes like the settlement home. I expect support will grow in the future,” said State Auto Regional President Gerald Ladner, an IIAT member. In addition to IIAT, the following IIAT members contributed to the IICF: Central Insurance Agency, Frost Insurance, The Hartford, Higginbotham and Associates, State Auto Insurance Co., and Texas Associate Insurors.

IIAT member Bill Henry, chairman and CEO of McQueary Henry Bowles Troy, Inc. (MHBT) chairs the IICF’s Texas/ Southeast Division. “I couldn’t be more pleased to take a step back to see evidence of the tremendous impact the insurance community has in backing the dedicated work of local nonprofits,” Henry said. “Home-grown philanthropy provides a vital backbone and foundation for communities, and I look forward to seeing these organizations continue their work through the IICF’s support.”

To date, the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation has contributed more than $21 million in grants and 179,000 volunteer service hours to hundreds of community organizations across the country.
