The people in Central Texas are incredibly generous and we are incredibly fortunate to be beneficiaries of their help!
I had the opportunity to speak to a great group of people – The National Association of Professional Organizers – Austin Chapter – this week. It was their monthly meeting and they invited Associate Members, including us and several other non-profits, to talk about what we do.
After the event, I was stopped by many people who wanted to see what they could do to help the children at The Settlement Home. People were offering their time, connections, resources, equipment and money to help us with our mission. It was amazing.
Financial contributions are wonderful and we truly need those dollars to make our agency run, but the creativity, dedication and sacrifices people make to help us are inspiring! We can only do so much to help these children, it is your efforts and your funding that allow us to go above and beyond and provide the quality care and programs these children deserve.
Don’t let road blocks get in the way of helping others. We all have something special that we can give to help someone else. What are your talents? What are your strengths? How can you help change a life? Not a day goes by that we are not thankful for the extra effort someone has made for us, and we know other non-profits feel the same way. So get inspired, get creative and find a way to use your unique strengths to make this a better community.
