Each year, the Settlement Club presents the Bobbie Mae Mathews Heart of the Home Award to individual or couple who embraces the mission and vision of The Settlement Home and goes above and beyond to help children. This year’s award recipient is Erica and Hector Menchaca.

“Family first” is at the heart and soul of the Menchaca family. With seven adoptive children, Erica and Hector Menchaca show their unity, commitment and love in every decision and action they make everyday. They are a committed couple who are very spiritually grounded. Erica says, “Before the kids even stepped foot in our home, we had been praying for them for weeks. Mainly prayers to prepare the kids, us, and everyone involved and for unity for our entire family.”
The Menchacas have been passionate advocates for The Settlement Home. When we wanted to make a video for the Foster & Adoption Program, the first family that came to mind was the Menchacas. They were on board to be in the video because they wanted to share their voice and their story with others.
Erica and Hector give support to other families by showing them that it is possible to find harmony and patience throughout the adoption process and that the rewards of creating a family are endless.
We are grateful for the chance to work with such an amazing couple and watch their beautiful family grow. Congratulations to our Heart of the Home award recipients, Erica and Hector Menchaca!
