The Settlement Home is pleased to honor excellent leaders in the Austin community at our upcoming Shining Star Gala. The gala will honor 48 members of the 2018 Community Youth Council. The Community Youth Council consists of area high school juniors who are committed to giving back to the community as volunteers with The Settlement Home.
Additionally, we will honor a member of the 2017 Community Youth Council as the Outstanding Youth Participant who has been a shining star in her commitment to serving The Settlement Home as often as she can. Marcella Ann Cannatti volunteers regularly with our Annual Garage & Estate Sale and voluntarily chose to become a summer intern with The Home, getting a hands-on experience with the programs and services we offer to residents. Marcella has a special connection to The Settlement Home. Her grandmother is Karen Cannatti, a Settlement Club member since 1993, who has instilled a love for philanthropy in her granddaughter.
The Settlement Home will also honor the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation as the recipients of the Community Leadership Award. Our partnership with the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation (MSDF) has a long history that has made a tremendous impact on the way we are able to serve young women in our Residential Treatment Center (RTC). Each year, MSDF funds our RTC therapists salaries, allowing a sustainability in the level of care that we provide. We are grateful not only for the support that MSDF gives to The Settlement Home each year, but their fierce dedication to meet the challenges in education, family economic stability and childhood health in our community.

The Shining Star Gala will take place on Sunday, February 25 at six o’clock at the Bullock Texas State History Museum.
