Volunteer Month: Mentors

One-on-one mentors create meaningful relationships with our residents that positively impact both the mentor and the child. One indicator of success for children in foster care is having an adult mentor who is there for them after they age out of foster care. By being a consistent and caring adult presence, a mentor builds a supportive relationship with a resident. “Being a mentor has been so rewarding. The young ladies I’ve had the pleasure to get to know are teaching me about real strength and perseverance,” says Lisa Cooney, mentor volunteer.
