Mike Downing Receives 2017 Bobbie Mae Matthews Heart of The Home Award

We are pleased to announce  that the 2017 Bobbie Mae Matthews Heart of The Home Award Winner is Mike Downing!

The award is given annually to a former Settlement Club member, former staff member or member of the community who has shown dedication and commitment to The Home. Check out an excerpt from Mike’s nominations below:

“Mike came to The Home as a Clinical Director and later became the first director of the Residential Treatment Center, as well as the “go to guy” for difficult situations. Mike was amazing, working with teens with mental health issues, teaching and guiding younger staff, and becoming the favorite of Club Members who flocked to Care meetings when Mike was the speaker.

Mike brought positive attention to the Home by teaching classes in the Schools of Social Work at UT and St. Edwards. Mike lives his dedication to helping youth. He and his wife have two adopted sons, and he is now in private practice working with troubled teens.”

Please join us in congratulating Mike and appreciating his efforts to make a difference in the lives of the children and young adults in the care of The Settlement Home!
